“I was happy to come and make art and learn new materials like plaster and group sculpture”

Child, Young Artists (Summer 2021)

Our programmes inspire people to participate in the arts, promote confidence and learn new skills. Their positive impact on personal wellbeing and social cohesion was celebrated in our shortlisting for this year’s Award for Civic Arts Organisations by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and King’s College London.

ACAVA in North Kensington

We have been working with local communities in North Kensington for over 20 years.

Programmes run from ACAVA studio buildings at Blechynden Street and Maxilla Walk. They include family workshops in an urban garden, a young artists programme, an open access makerspace, a bio-diverse garden and an initiative that supports local people to develop careers as photographers. Co-creation, play and enabling social interaction are central to our ethos.

We collaborate with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, third and voluntary sector organisations, the NHS, commercial clients, local groups, artists, gardeners and funders to deliver these dynamic programmes.

Programme participants gathered around a raised bed and planting seeds.
