Artist April Star Davis invites artists who identify as women, trans women and non-binary to submit work for Anarchy Is Her Birthright, an upcoming group exhibition at ACAVA Spode Works Studios in Stoke-on-Trent.

The exhibition welcomes a wide range of practices, from painting and sculpture to photography, performance and installation.

Curated by April Star Davis with ACAVA’s Dan Southward, the exhibition brings together practices that explore rebellion, resilience and radical beauty. The show takes inspiration from feminist and punk legacies, including the work of Gee Vaucher, and celebrates creative survival, collective voice and lived experience.

About the exhibition

Anarchy Is Her Birthright follows April Star Davis’s residency at ACAVA Spode Works and reflects a shared commitment to feminist practice, collaboration and place-based making. Rather than a solo presentation, the exhibition foregrounds collective presence and dialogue between artists.

Set within the historic Spode Works site, the exhibition responds to Stoke-on-Trent’s industrial heritage and ongoing transformation. The works selected will reflect personal and political narratives shaped by labour, class, gender, identity and resistance.
