We’re pleased to announce that Natalie Mitchell has been selected as this year’s resident artist for the ACAVA Hosts: Barham Park Studios Residency, a career development opportunity at one of ACAVA’s studio communities in Brent, North London.

The residency is an annual opportunity for a London-based artist from a Global Majority background who considers social engagement as integral to their studio practice. Natalie follows previous ACAVA Hosts alumni including Nick Murray (2025) and Francesca Telling (2024).

Natalie Mitchell is a multidisciplinary artist and curator working across moving image, photography, oral history and archives. Drawing on collaborative and research-led processes, their practice explores questions of visibility, place and collective experience across different communities, including Black diasporic histories. Through fieldwork, archival research and dialogue, their work traces how personal and collective memory is held, transmitted and re-imagined.

As part of the residency, Natalie will receive studio space, a financial package to support their practice and career development, and funding to deliver public engagement through their socially engaged work. They will also collaborate with Flourish, ACAVA’s free school holiday art programme for families in Wembley, which takes place at Barham Park Studios.

ACAVA Hosts: Barham Park Studios Residency is generously supported by Arts Council England, through ACAVA’s National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funding.
