Free creative fun for families this half-term

Join us for free creative activities this February half term led by facilitating artists Flora Duley, Josh Bilton, Max Martin and Stephen Stockbridge, as part of our Flourish programme.

This half term, we will be trialling new woodworking workshops at the Maxilla Men’s Shed, will return to Holland Park Forest School for an outdoors adventure with making, performing, sound and clay, and will organise a special visit to Watts Gallery and Artists Village in Surrey.

Human and Creature Kinship

Following on from the success of October’s half-term Flourish session at Holland Park’s Forest School, this is an outdoors creative session with artist Josh Bilton and Education and Nature Wellbeing Officer Max Martin in the beautiful surroundings of Holland Park. 

Families will work together to find ways to transform themselves into mystical forest creatures, through making, performing, sound and clay.  Based on their creatures they will collaboratively construct shelters for their new animal forms.  

The session will close gathered around a campfire, toasting marshmallows on hand whittled sticks and sharing stories about the morning’s adventure.

Flourish on the Road

Where: Watts Gallery and Artists Village (Surrey)
When: Thursday 17 February, all day

We will be returning to Watts Gallery and Artists Village to explore the magical woodland and pottery studio with a new group of Flourish regulars. Working with artist Flora Duley, families will visit Limnerslease House and Watts Chapel, play in the extensive woodland and make their own terracotta tiles inspired by their surroundings. 

Flourish in the Shed Day 1

When: Thursday 17 February, 11am-1pm

Join artist Stephen Stockbridge from Creative Nature and try out woodworking skills in the Maxilla Men’s Shed. Families will carve, chisel and saw to creative whittled wands and sculpted wooden forms.  

Priority will be given to those families who are able to attend both sessions. Places are limited and booking is essential, please book here.

Flourish in the Shed Day 2

Continue exploring and refining your woodworking skills with artist Stephen Stockbridge and complete your whittled and sculpted artworks.

About Flourish

Starting in 2017, Flourish is an ongoing school holiday art programme for families in North Kensington (West London) with primary school-aged children. It takes place at ACAVA’s Maxilla Walk Studios and offers a space for families to get creative and enjoy learning new skills with professional artists. Learn more about the programme here.
