Cultivate Create returns for another year of gardening for families in West London
15 April 2024
Cultivate Create, ACAVA Maxilla Walk Studios

Our free family gardening programme is back for another year of gardening sessions for families based in North Kensington.

Now in its third year, Cultivate Create is a creative growing project for North Kensington families with a focus on wellbeing and emotional resilience. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space for families in which to be creative and connect to nature.

Families meet twice a month in our secret garden at the back of Maxilla Walk Studios, and work with a community gardener to learn about ecosystems and biodiversity, how to grow from seed to harvest and play freely in the adjacent forest school. We often receive visits from other local growing associations, share and cook our produce in nearby community kitchens, and take trips to other creative and growing spaces nearby.

This year we will be welcoming community gardener Maria Cabrera, who will work with our families to build on previous work done to the Maxilla Walk Studios yard and forest school garden. We will also be partnering with Hammersmith Community Gardening Association who will support our volunteers to help us prepare the space for the season ahead, offer materials and equipment at cost price, and help Maria with mentoring and support.
