ACAVA acquires artist studios and community hub in Camden

We are delighted to announce that ACAVA has been appointed as the new operator of a studio and community arts space in the London Borough of Camden.

The space – transformed from a vacant car park beneath the Ludham and Waxham Estate in Gospel Oak – is currently home to 10 community groups and 27 artist studios.

Known as The Undercraft, the building is owned by Camden Council and was previously the base of the London School of Mosaic who created and ran the space until August 2025, providing flexible event and workshop spaces for the local community, alongside their leading mosaic training and qualifications in a dedicated workshop.

ACAVA has been running artist studios and community programmes for 50 years, with values and an approach closely aligned with The Undercraft’s. Our focus is to provide continuity and stability for everyone who uses this valuable hub and maintain vital creative spaces for artists and communities.

We are grateful to the London School of Mosaic team, who have been generous in time and spirit throughout their handover of the space to ACAVA. We are looking forward to getting to know The Undercraft community and collaborating with them to develop the hub into its next phase.

Applications for vacant artist studios will open next week – watch this space!
