Join us for I am not here, a new exhibition by artist Jan Agha, developed during his residency at ACAVA Spode Works Studios.

Jan works with oil paint and ceramics to explore ideas around identity, belief, and what it means to feel part of, or separate from, the world around us. His paintings are full of texture and colour, often using large, unstretched canvases. Alongside these, he creates expressive ceramic heads, shaped by hand. His work brings together personal experience, humour, and reflection, using materials in ways that feel raw and honest.

This exhibition brings together new paintings and sculptures made during Jan’s month-long residency in Stoke-on-Trent. It’s an opportunity to see the results of this time and to hear more about his practice.

About the artist
Jan Agha is a painter and sculptor based in the UK. He’s interested in how culture, emotion, and memory shape who we are, and how we express those things through art. His work is bold, physical, and rooted in personal experience. Visit Jan’s website here and Instagram here.
