Cultivate Create community open day and book launch

Join us on Saturday 22 August for a joyful community celebration at Maxilla Walk Gardens, marking another successful season of Cultivate Create and the launch of a new publication sharing stories from the programme.
Bringing together families, friends, neighbours and partners, the day will celebrate everything that has grown through Cultivate Create since it began in 2022. Visitors can enjoy live music, free food and drinks, gardening activities, creative family sessions and opportunities to explore the garden and forest school space.
The event will also mark the launch of the new Cultivate Create book, a publication celebrating the people, stories, recipes and relationships that have shaped the programme over the last four years.
Designed by Patrick Fisher and featuring photography by Amelia Wornell, the publication brings together voices from across the Cultivate Create community, documenting the people, plants and experiences that have helped the programme grow.
Created with contributions from participating families, the book offers a glimpse into life at Cultivate Create through personal reflections, garden experiences and recipes made using ingredients grown at Maxilla Walk Gardens. It captures the importance of the programme to the families who take part and the sense of community, wellbeing and connection to nature that has developed over time.
Activities on the day will include gardening sessions, family-friendly creative activities delivered by Hyde Park Learning Centre, and plenty of opportunities to relax, eat and celebrate together in the garden.
The event is free and open to everyone, with a special welcome to families and local residents.
Cultivate Create Community Open Day and Book Launch

Cultivate Create is ACAVA’s community gardening programme for families in North Kensington. Led by Dannielle Jemmott, the programme provides a welcoming space where families can grow food, explore nature, enjoy creative activities and spend time together outdoors. Families meet regularly in the garden to learn about growing, biodiversity and seasonal food while building lasting friendships and connections.
