Kingsway Community Cinema

People attending a screening at a community hall

Kingsway Community Cinema is a not-for-profit project offering an accessible and welcoming space where local people can come together and enjoy a varied programme of film screenings. The programme runs from Hadleigh Old Fire Station Studios.

History

The much-loved original Kingsway Cinema, demolished in 1970, stood on the site of Morrisons supermarket in London Road, Hadleigh.

In 2011 Hadleigh Old Fire Station opposite was refurbished and re-opened as a community hub and our first Kingsway Community pop-up cinema event soon followed. With no purpose-built cinema in mainland Castle Point, this community space has hosted a regular programme of film screenings at affordable prices and is accessible to all.

Volunteer with us

There’s always plenty to do from Front of House, helping set out and put away chairs, help with refreshments, car park stewards, and technical assistance. Please see our volunteer opportunities on Do It and Volunteer Essex.
