Office Manager

Term of contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (av. 37.5 hrs. p/w) worked within core office hours Mon-Fri, plus early evening board meetings. Some working times flexibility is possible
Starting salary: £26-28k p/a, contributory pension, 22 days holiday p/a plus bank holidays
Location: ACAVA’s offices at Blechynden Street, London W10 with occasional travel
Reports to: CEO

The organisation

ACAVA (the Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Art), is an arts organisation and educational charity, founded 45 years ago. We manage a portfolio of 26 buildings, offering studios for almost 600 artists, mostly in London, but also in Essex and Stoke-on-Trent. Our charitable purpose is to empower communities through participation in the arts and we deliver an extensive programme of activities across our sites, including: professional development; commissions; exhibitions; workshops; open studios and an outstanding community arts programme.

We work in close partnership with a range of external agencies, including: schools; HEIs; the NHS; clinical commissioning groups; local authorities; trusts and foundations and statutory funders, such as Arts Council England.

ACAVA operates from purpose-built accessible offices, studios and community art workshop in North Kensington. We have built enduring relationships with the diverse communities in the area over the past twenty years. Located close to Grenfell Tower, we work with local people, community groups, third sector and voluntary organisations to provide artistic opportunities to memorialise and recover from the Grenfell Tower fire.

We are seeking a highly organised, composed and confident Office Manager to join the friendly team based at our head office. You will be joining the organisation during an exciting period of change and this role is critical to the implementation of new office and management processes that will help streamline the busy workloads of colleagues and support them in the delivery of an ambitious new vision. As the organisation evolves in the coming months, it will nurture a culture of mutual support and collaboration and you will be encouraged to bring energy and ideas to this process.

The Office Manager has wide ranging responsibilities and is an essential connection between our teams and the different aspects of the organisation. Alongside the essential office management functions, the role offers the opportunity to influence important internal and external communications needs of ACAVA. The PA aspect involves working closely with, and directly supporting, the CEO as they develop new strategic relationships and requires confidentiality and discretion.
