Studios planned for Enfield

ACAVA is delighted to announce that it is to work with Karakusevic Carson Architects to create studios in Enfield at the outset of the transformation of a vast industrial area into Meridian Water, a major new development which will create 8,000 new homes, 3,000 permanent new jobs and a new railway station.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, on Thursday 21st January announced the schemes which had been chosen for funding from the London Development Fund. A partnership between Enfield Council, ACAVA and Building BloQs, working with KCA, was funded to create studios for 34 artists, a much enlarged and further equipped workspace for professional makers, a cycle track to facilitate access to the Lee Navigation site, and support for educational and community work. The enormous industrial buildings which are to be converted will enable work to be made on the largest scale.

This is an outstanding opportunity to demonstrate the value of placing creativity and artists' studios at the start and the heart of city planning.
