Shape Open: Call Out

The Shape Open is an annual call-out for disabled and non-disabled artists to submit work in response to a disability focused theme. Exhibiting artists will be selected by a panel of arts industry judges to show their work at Shape Open patron Yinka Shonibare MBE’s Guest Projects space. The winning artist will receive a £1000 prize.
This year's theme, chosen by Yinka Shonibare, is 'My Life'.
What does life look like through the lens of disability? How does a disabled person’s perspective on the life cycle differ from that of a non-disabled person? How is the life of a disabled person perceived by the outside world?
This year’s Shape Open invites artists to explore the theme ‘my life’ in relation to disability. The work could be inspired by your own experience of being disabled; how barriers faced have influenced your life, your identity and life choices. Perhaps your life has been significantly influenced by disabled friends or relatives, or maybe disability is a part of your profession (e.g. personal assistant, doctor). The work can reflect any emotion or tell any story within the given theme.
Disabled and non-disabled artists are invited to submit work in 2D, 3D, video or sound form by  Monday 5 Oct 2015.
