Join textile artist Isabel Fletcher for a free, four-day workshop where you’ll create your own unique Workwear ‘Waste-Coat’ using upcycled fabrics.
Learn simple sewing techniques, appliqué, and quilting as you transform textile scraps into a custom waistcoat with functional pockets and buttons. This free course is suitable for all skill levels.
What to expect over four days:
- Day 1: Meet Isabel and learn appliqué, quilting, and button techniques. Adjust the ‘waste-coat’ pattern, select fabrics, and start designing.
- Day 2: Finalise your design and create the base of your ‘waste-coat’ using quilting or appliqué.
- Day 3: Cut wadding and lining, then quilt layers together by hand or machine.
- Day 4: Add optional pockets, attach binding, and finish with a button or tie fastening.
Priority spaces on our Make and Reuse programme are offered to the North Kensington community. Spaces on this course are limited, we will notify you if you have been allocated a place.
