Art for Wellbeing: Everyday 2019 (‘The AWE Project’)

The AWE project provides the opportunity for local people to work with professional artists to learn a range of visual arts skills over 6 sessions. Participants will feed into a 'How to Guide' for the skill they have learnt and this will be made available in print and online.  

The projects must teach a new art skill and culminate in the production of a piece of work for participants to take home. The skills taught must be easily replicated in a domestic setting, with low set up costs and minimal instruction. This is the second year of the project, and we need to deliver 6 projects that are distinct from those delivered in 2018. Please refer to 2018 programme for details of the projects already delivered.

The guide will be produced by a graphic designer, with copy supplied by the lead artist.

To express your interest in this opportunity please submit, by 12 noon Monday 14th January 2019, the following by email to Isabella Niven, Programme Manager - iniven(at)acava(dot)org:

  • A project outline (no longer than 1 side of A4), including a brief breakdown of the sessions you’ll deliver, a paragraph on the skill you will teach and a list of equipment and materials you will need
  • An up to date CV, including details of any experience you have in education/ community/ health settings
  • Up to three images that illustrate your practice and the technique you propose to teach
  • Dates you are available to deliver your project during the year, including your preferred days and times. Sessions will need to delivered over 6 consecutive weeks, on the same day and at the same time each week.
  • Details of any DBS check you hold (if you do not have an up to date certificate, we can arrange this for a fee)
  • Name and contact details of two referees

Artist fee: £713 for six 2 hour sessions inc planning and prep. A materials budget of £100 will be available.
