A House for Artists: affordable housing and civic engagement

Are you a practising artist? Are you living in the UK and don't own a house? Can you contribute half a day a week to running public activities? If you have answered yes to all of these you are eligible to apply to Create's first housing project ‘A House for Artists’.

‘A House for Artists’ is a brand new live-work-public building designed by the architecture practice Apparata, where the resident artists will be expected to give half a day’s a week to running the public programme in the ground floor community hall as part of their tenancy. The 12 flats and shared studios will be rented at 65% of market rate, on a long-term basis with capped rises - this offers artists the possibility of putting down roots, and becoming an integrated part of a community in Barking Town Centre.
