Free family art workshops at Maxilla Studios.

**Update 16 June 2017**

We have postponed the Flourish Workshop at Maxilla Studios in sensitivity to the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower nearby. Instead we will be running a free arts & crafts workshop for local families. Open doors from 10am on Saturday. All welcome! – with Rachael Nee, Ana Carolina Rodrigues and Lisa Nash.

** Update 23 June 2017**

Our community is still processing the tragic events of last week. Mindful of this, we have adjusted our offer for the Flourish project this Saturday 24th June 10am-12pm.
Instead of Art & Pollution as previously advertised, we are offering families living in North Kensington an opportunity to respond to the theme of Hope.
Working with photography and collage, ACAVA artist Christopher Tew will support families to create a series of unique images. No previous photography experience is necessary as Christopher will guide you through the basics of angle, framing and composition.
Children must be 5 years and over, and accompanied by an adult.
Spaces limited. Book your place: http://bit.ly/2sVdjsF

*** Update 1 July 2017 ***
Working with ACAVA artists Carolina and Rachael, our workshop on 1st July will be exploring sculpture and architecture.

Families will imagine future visions of the Maxilla space to create a 'Wonder under the Westway'.

The workshop will be fun, physical and ‘over-the-top’ in ambition and scale including pulleys, tunnels and what ever else your imagination allows you to create!

The work produced will be displayed as part of the project celebration at Maxilla on 15th July.

This is a free art workshop for families living in North Kensington.
Children must be 5 years and over, and accompanied by an adult.

*** Update 3 July 2017 ***

Our last workshop in the current series, families will learn how to make and use natural dyes and experiment with the ancient Japanese art of shibori (more commonly known as tie-dye). ACAVA artist Aimee Parrott, will work with families and explore creative ways to recycle and re-purpose textiles.

The group will be foraging for found objects to create a record of the surroundings using cyanotypes: an early form of photography, most famously used to make blueprints. Each participant will need to bring an old piece of light coloured, cotton clothing as well as a large jar. This is a free art workshop for families living in North Kensington.
