Flourish workshops in North Kensington dates extended.

The previous series of Flourish: Green Art Maxilla has finished with a great exhibition, however ACAVA has just received funding from the City Bridge Trust to extend the project during the summer holidays, for families in North Kensington affected by the fire.

Events will take place at Maxilla Studios (the former Children's Centre under the Westway), 4 Maxilla Walk W10 6NQ. Places are limited for each workshop so booking is essential - book here.

Story-creative, with artist Ursula Kelly
Tue 25 July, Wed 2 Aug, Tue 8 Aug, Wed 16 Aug 2-4pm

Story time followed by creative activities for toddlers, early years and foundation stage children and their parents/carers.

Each week we will be inspired by a different children’s book to create fun, imaginative, crazy artworks. We will explore different ways of making art: painting with our bodies, making mini pop-up books, making giant sculptures and much more.

This is a free drop-in art workshop for families in North Kensington, booking not necessary - just turn up! Workshop suitable for 0-6yrs and their parents/carers. Refreshments available.

Community flag-making, with Emmy Lopes
Mon 31 Jul, Thu 10 Aug, Tue 22 Aug, all 1h30-5h30pm

This is a fantastic series of workshops where families can learn how to make something beautiful from an often discarded everyday object: a plastic bag.

Participants will design, collage, fuse and sew the plastic bags, transforming them into flags, collectively producing a beautiful piece of public art to be displayed in and around W10 in the near future. Referencing Tibetan Prayer flags, each colour represents a different element or emotion.

Best suited for children aged 7yrs-12yrs. Places are limited for each workshop so booking is essential - book here.

Wed 23 Aug (Experiment 2 - Sound)
Both sessions 1h30-5h30pm

Learn how to make a giant battery from fruit and vegetables, powerful enough to work a musical instrument. This interactive piece of art will be fun to make and use. If you are able, please bring 2 medium sized potatoes cooked for 8 minutes exactly.
Suitable for 7-12yrs. Booking essential as place are limited - book here.
