Flourish: Light - free family art this half term

Mini Light Sculptures

Monday 23rd October

2pm-4pm

with Rachael Nee & Carolina Rodrigues

The Flourish workshops begin with making mini light sculptures based on ideas of utopia and wonder.

Working with Maxilla artists Rachael Nee and Carolina Rodrigues, families will use their imaginations to create fun models using lights, clay, wire, card and nature. Workshop suitable for 7-13 yr olds and their parent/carers.

Cyanotype Printing

Tuesday 24th October

2pm-4pm

With Aimee Parrott

One of the earliest forms of photography, experience the magic of making images using photosensitive paper, light and objects you can find in the outside space at Maxilla.

Pumpkin Painting

Wednesday 25th October 
10am-12pm

With Ursula Kelly

Inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama (image above), come and have some seasonal fun with artist Ursula Kelly, and paint a pumpkin with you very own design.

Shadow puppets & Theatre Making

Wednesday 25th October

An action packed afternoon. Families will make their own shadow puppets and mini theatre, as well as put on a show for each other.

The Glowing Wonder

Thursday 26th October

2pm-4pm

With Rachael Nee & Carolina Rodrigues

A light sculpture workshop with Maxilla artists Rachael and Carolina. Together build a giant structure, based on ideas generated from Tuesday's session, and install it using pulleys, onto the Maxilla rooftop for all to admire.

Lantern Making

Friday 27th October

2pm-4pm

With Aimee Parrott

Working with artist Aimee Parrott, create your own design using wax and paint known as Wax Resist, then transform your creation into a lantern to take home.

Flourish exhibition & Maxilla Open Studios

Friday 20th October 6pm-9pm

Come and celebrate the achievements of our local families and wander around the artists studios. 

Exhibition & Open Studios continues:

Saturday & Sunday 11am-5pm
