Call for Participatory Project Proposals

ACAVA have been awarded funding from the Brent Ward Working Fund for Sudbury Ward. The funds are for the delivery of 3 arts projects engaging families and young people, running between May and September 2015.

Each project will run for 6 consecutive weeks, with participatory sessions taking place on Saturdays at ACAVA's Barham Park Studios located within Sudbury ward. Please see the attached timetable and map for information.

In consultation with Sudbury Ward Councillors priorities have been set for the selection of the three projects, proposals will need to address 2 or more of the following priorities:

• Provide activities that help:
• Innovative and diverse artistic outcomes including:

  • o Local families
  • o Young People (in partnership with local youth initiatives)
  • o Young people from the local Somali community
  • o Local people feel more pride in Barham Park and their community
  • o Participants to meet and engage with other local people of a different cultural or religious background
  • o Increase local understanding of ACAVA and how our work benefits communities
  • o Film/ Audio Visual/ Photography
  • o Painting/ Sculpture/ Drawing
  • o Printmaking/ illustration/ Animation
  • o Performance/ Installation/ ANY OTHER!

Lead artists will be responsible for managing the running of the Saturday participatory sessions and development of final outcomes, ACAVA will lead on the recruitment of participants and manage a team of local volunteers to support the process. Sessions can take place within ACAVA’s community studio or within the park itself.

The artist’s fee for the delivery of each project is £837, worked out according to ACAVA's standard artist rate of £31 per hour for a total of 27 hours. A materials budget of up to £250 for each project is to be managed by the lead artist.

We are asking ACAVA members to submit proposals to lead a project. Proposals must be no more than 2 sides of A4, and include a time-line indicating your preferred project date slot, with a breakdown of the materials budget. Please also include a copy of your CV and 3 images of your work in addition to your proposal. All leads will be subject to a DBS Check.

All three projects will contribute to an event as part of the inaugural ACAVA Open Studios at Barham Park in September.

Submissions will be reviewed by a committee and short listed artists will be invited to present their proposal at Barham Park Studios week commencing 20th April 2015.
