Broken Bones by Rita Parniczky at Whitefriars Gallery

Rita Parniczky will be showing her mixed-media sculptures at Whitefriars Gallery between 17th and 26th July. Her solo exhibition ‘Broken Bones’, taking its title from her large body of work in plaster and weave investigates the function of textiles, and if they can step out of their expected role. Exploring expectations and limitations the process with plaster re-connected Rita with her experience of having broken bones as a small child, and the limitations through protection from her family. Her exhibition consists of small and large scale wall, floor and space mounted works.

Rita’s woven work ‘X-Ray’ series exposes the vertical threads of its structure, which is then semi covered in ‘Broken Bones’. X-Ray series is part of the permanent collection of the V&A Museum.
