KAA Visiting Artists Programme

The Visiting Artists Programme at Kensington Aldridge Academy launched in 2017, at a time when the Academy was temporarily re-located as a consequence of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The programme introduces students to professional artists through workshops, studio visits and exhibition curation and installation.

2017-2018

In a programme organised around Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2017, ACAVA provided a series of activities between the students and professional artists such as:

– Taster textiles workshops for GCSE students with artist Aimee Parrott
– Studio visits and workshops with artists Rachael Nee and Carolina Rodrigues
– A level art students worked with artist/curator Kelly Large and artist/technician Andy Healy to gain practical experience in curating and installing their very own exhibition at Maxilla Studios.

2019

The school was keen to continue the partnership in 2019, with the students having the opportunity to work with professional artists Nicole Morris, Clare Burnett and Nadine Mahoney. Once again the A level students worked with a curator and technician to install the end of year show at Maxilla Studios.

2020

Due to restrictions impacted by Covid 19 the 2020 programme has been delayed and we have taken the decision to deliver the project remotely through video tutorials and feedback sessions.

For 2020 we have planned workshops between year 11 GCSE Art and Textile students and artists Miranda Forrester, Hira Gedikoglu, and Luca Bosani. The pupils will be exposed to the artists' practices and working, will try out new techniques and will develop their own ideas for their course work. We look forward to seeing what they get up to in the coming weeks.
